Short art story: “London night” by Igor Dubovoy

The heavy clouds wear various colors given by the lights of the city and the sunset. Cars and red buses come towards us, and at the end of the boulevard we see the greatness of Big Ben. The light and colors contrast with the darkness of the night and thus are highlighted.

The artist captures the essence of an ordinary evening in London. An urban view, a rainy, crowded evening, when everyone is heading home. Just looking at this artwork we feel stuck in traffic, in a hurry to reach our destination and take a break until the next day.

The rainy evening gives us a feeling of sleepiness. Some of us might want to get home and maybe prepare a hot tea and get under a warm blanket, others would clear their minds by walking in the rain. For each of us, the rain means something else and gives a different feeling.

The artist propose a drawing in perspective, very well constructed, choosing pleasant colors, invigorated by watercolor and ink. The water and the light on the road create the impression of a mirror that reflects the last agitations of the day. And so, the artist invites us in the atmosphere of a rainy London evening.
