Memories of places I’ve never seen
byWomanwithstick
About this artwork
There are so many places I intended to see in the world; I was saving them all up for retirement and we were going to tick them off one by one. Now, I have problems being in a car for longer than a short journey and I know and accept we will never see those places. But in my imagination. I can be anywhere I like. I take flights of fancy instead. This painting represents the regrets and sadness of my new reality but also symbolises the way that art and imagination can take us on whole new journeys to places we’d never gone nor will ever go.
